Happy Holidays

20111212_0050

Well, just like every year, it seems like I’m having issues getting into the spirit of the holidays. This happens every year so I’m not too concerned, it will kick in soon enough. I will however stop posting (with the exception of some pictures here and there), until the new year.

Just got done with the renewal of my green card, and I was allowed to stay here for another 10 years. I started to think of the implications and analyzing the last 10 years, and I gotta admit, I didn’t accomplish much, I coasted thru the first round, and although I lost the round (and some other things along the way), the damage wasn’t crippling, I will be able to come out on the second round (the next ten years, come on, keep up with the boxing/MMA metaphor), and make up for the round I threw.

I wanted to say “Thank You” to the Wertz, they have become part of my family here in Virginia, and their suggestion was what brought us here. Kell, for getting me out of Florida and for being a monument to patience (you’re and will always be the best). To my two baby sisters for being there and always making me smile. To friends and family who encouraged me and helped me to pursue my dreams, and for the encouraging words offered along the way (you know who you are), and last but certainly not least, to friends and family who discouraged me along the way, your words are and will always be the ultimate motivation tool to always prove you wrong.

Along the way I have lost friendships, and relationships, but may the light of those burned bridges light my way ahead… It’s gonna be a great year.

See ya in 2012,

Andres Trujillo

I hanged out with a Latin R&B producer and performer, and all I got are these pictures

20111212_0072_pp

Well, if any of my punk rocker friends ever find out, I will be in trouble… then again, I would have to give a fuck to really be in trouble.

So I did a photoshoot/promo material shoot for a coworker, a very young and talented kid that goes by the name of DJ-Jet, you can find some of his music HERE.

I’m not particularly fond of his type of music, as I grew with reggae, ska, and punk rock blasting (or as much as reggae can “blast”) thru my headphones. So I was a little bit doubtful about doing this job, because I didn’t know if we were gonna find a common ground to make his vision come thru. I’m happy I did the shoot though, even if I don’t listen to his music on a regular basis, I can recognize that the kid is talented, both as a performer and a producer.

Here are some more of the pictures:

…But I still won’t listen to his pansy music on a regular basis <Joking>

The Korean War memorial is one of my favorite ones, specially at night when the lights add some more drama to the scene.

Street Photography

Downtown DC-38
Sometimes we let our problems consume us and we lose ourselves for a little while, life in general has been full of changes lately, and not all of them are “good” (not that change is inherently good or bad, it just “is”), but I’m a glutton for punishment so I dusted myself and I’m coming back for more.

This past Saturday I went out and took some pictures in downtown DC, I had a lot of fun, and here are some of the pictures I took.

My friend S, she's been such a great support thru hard times, and beautiful as always.
Our friend S, beautiful as always.
Also, I wanted to mention that I might start updating the blog with one picture a day, and then a regular post once a week, we’ll see if I can do that.

Thank you very much for reading,

Hitting the streets

So life got a little in the way and I’ve been pretty lazy with my photography lately (actually, life kinda came in, kicked me in the nads, took my wallet, and then laughed at me as it walked away), but I think I am out of the rut now and ready to take back to the streets with a vengeance.
I will be going out this Saturday and I’m planning on doing some street photography (downtown and hitting the skate park on 11th St. on my way back), and well, trying to get life under control.
Here are some recent pictures:

Update to the Update

Blog-2 (2)
I forgot to add that I bought a convertible shoot thru umbrella last weekend, and I’ve been playing a lot with it xD

Well, I’m still looking for ideas to get a pictorial done. I have some ideas, but nothing developed enough to share just yet.

I’m also putting a couple of photo books together, one is going to my mom back in Venezuela, so I’ve been going thru old pictures in order to find enough pictures, and I got to see some of the old processing I’ve done… I’m ashamed of some of the old pictures (“Gaussian blur all skin…. looks pretty so it is done”), so I had to go back and re edit some of the pictures.
So here are some of my newest pictures:

Update

It was an interesting weekend, full of growing and new experiences and outlook, I didn't care much for it...

First, I saw a leprechaun (ok, it was a guy dressed as a leprechaun, I did take a picture, but I can't seem to find it.... ain't that normal for mythical creatures), then I stepped in dog crap.... twice... needless to say, I was very lucky during my photo shoot. It was an interesting experience, and I am very thankful that the people involved were old friends as I was pretty nervous and I appreciate the help received, my wife and one of the subjects became the directors to more than a couple of shots, I was just a monkey pressing a clicker.

Here you can see some of the outtakes:

I won't post the finished pictures yet, as the pictures have not been delivered (I will be posting them on my next update), but here are a couple of pictures from my previous photo shoot for The IPI (International Psychotherapy Institute) dinner gala, here are some of my pictures from that night.
