Antiquing

Have you ever gone antiquing (I assume you're either married male and you were dragged there, or you're a female dragging your partner there)? next time you go, pay attention at the look of total and utter despair and resignation on every male face at the antique store.

Last weekend we went antiquing again for Kell's birthday, and I gotta say, it was fun (HERE are some of the pictures from that day), this time around I had a better idea of what to photograph as that was our second time on that particular store (personally I search for old photographs/photographic equipment every time I go there).

In other news, there are some new pictures on my Flickr stream, and a little addition to the "Go ahead, steal my images, I dare you..." post, go check the latest TWIP Podcast (Episode #192), specifically the interview with Trey Ratcliff and his views on self marketing (and his approach to posting images online).

That's it for today, I'll be back soon (hopefully I'll remember)

Birthday Weekend

Well, another year is gone, I turned 30, and I'm ok with that (yes, I said that for my benefit, not yours, deal with it).

My wife flew my sisters in for the weekend and we took them to Washington for touristy things.

We had a lot of fun, you can see the pictures in my Flickr Photostream.

Thanks to my wife from flying them, thanks to my sisters for making it fun, thanks to our parents for letting them come, and thanks to my brothers for dropping them and picking them up at the airports, We had a blast.

New Pro and Amateur photographers I'm looking at

I've been looking for inspiration, and one of the things I like to do is check out what other photographers are doing, here are two Photographers I really like and admire.

Jeremy "Kurse" Rodgers from Alpha Dreams Studio, Kurse is an old grappling friend, we met via a Martial Arts forum we both frequented, and since, I considered him family, he is a really nice, easy going guy based in South Florida, you can see some of his sample material in his blog, but here are some of my favorites:

Luis "El MAcho" with his daughter Fuyumi

Luis, Fuyumi and Hiroko San

The other Pro photographer I've been checking out is Mr. Dustin Snipes, I really love his method of lighting and post processing. Also, his athlete's portraits have a very distinct feeling to them, I'll encourage people to check him out.
