A couple of months ago, Rene reached out to us for a shoot of his new gym (CrossFit Yellow Falcon), so we loaded everything on the car, and to Wynwood we drove.
Now, every time we shoot CrossFitters, it seems to be around their priorities (they're always working out, and not there for a shoot, so we let them do their thing, and we keep out of the way), but this time.... there was no difference, it was the opening of the gym, and first open class, so once again, we shot around what they were doing.
Towards the end, we were able to steal the coaches for individual shots (with different degrees of success), I've also tried to take a plate shot and then photograph each of the coaches, with the idea of dropping them in photoshop and "make" a team shot, but that failed miserably (we did shots in between and the tripod moved.... yes, by itself).
Anyway, the shoot was simple, for the WOD (Workout Of the Day), we've used natural light and pushed the ISO on the cameras, those images were not the priority, so we didn't have much concern for the final result, as long as it was useable, and it documented the first WOD for the gym.
For the main portraits, we've used a large Octa (big momma), on a 600W head with battery pack, mounted into a C-Stand (for main light), and one 400W head plugged into the wall, with a gelled reflector, for edge light.
Once again, another shoot we've kept simple, mostly by circumstances (I really need to make a bigger production shoot with these guys). But, again, we've walked out with some nice images for the day that they were able to use for their promo material, I call that a win.
Thank you for reading.
